International Migrants Day 2025
Date: 21 December 2025

The Northern Labor Network, together with the MAP Foundation, organized International Migrants Day 2025 at the Faculty of Law, Chiang Mai University. The event highlighted the value, dignity, and contributions of migrant communities living and working in Thailand, as well as the importance of coexistence and understanding between Thai and migrant workers in society.

Key activities included a youth performance by Shan Youth Power, a Thai PBS documentary screening on the coexistence of migrant workers in Thai society, and a traditional dance performance by the Pa-O ethnic group.

A joint seminar titled “Migrant People Are People: We must not Discriminate Against Migrant Workers” brought together academics, civil society organizations, and migrant representatives to discuss social attitudes, policy gaps, and ways forward for inclusive protection and equal rights.

The event continued with a roleplay performance by the Chiang Mai Domestic Workers Group, presenting issues faced by domestic workers. This was followed by a reading of the International Migrants Day 2025 statement, and concluded with musical performances celebrating resilience, unity, and cultural pride.

More than a hundred migrant workers participated in the event, which aimed to demand equal rights for all migrant workers and to celebrate their solidarity and resilience.
