Monitoring and progress report workshop

We are excited to share the latest achievements and activities from our sub-grants project. This initiative focuses on empowering migrant communities and developing leadership within our groups to igniting rights. The project currently supports eight migrant groups:

  1. GBV-CG (Gender-Based Violence Coordination Group), Mae Sot
  2. Hi Positive Women Group, PhangNga
  3. MMWO (Myanmar Migrant Worker Organization), Bangkok
  4. Agricultural worker group (Kaset Pong Yang), Chiang Mai
  5. RDMWN (Rights & Development for Migrant Worker Network), Chonburi
  6. AWO (Arakan Worker Organization), Mae Sot
  7. Domestic Worker, Chiang Mai
  8. Factory worker group, Samutprakarn

Highlights from Recent Activities:

 

  • MMWO (Myanmar Migrant Worker Organization), Bangkok: Conducted three training sessions focused on networking, leadership development, and labour rights.
  • Agricultural worker group (Kaset Pong Yang), Chiang Mai: AWG has activities with local and migrant communities. The group collaborated with local communities on environmental, welfare, and religious activities. Regular meetings are organized with village leaders to discuss community issues. Besides, Agricultural worker group collected data from 53 households, totalling 307 individuals in the area and implemented environmental clean-up campaigns, including poster displays and waste management efforts.
  • Domestic Worker Group, Chiang Mai:
    Focused on skill development for domestic workers to support economic goals, such as fundraising through soap-making and selling. Activities included IT training, floral arrangement, baking, and teamwork building. They also celebrated May Day, Domestic Worker Day, submitting recommendations to the Chiang Mai governor.
  • AWO Team: Engaged in outreach, training, and networking to support the formation of the Migrant Labor Network (MLN) and collaborated with both migrant and Thai communities to address shared concerns in Mae Sot.
  • Factory worker group, Samutprakarn: Provided knowledge and team-building support. Organized workshops on labor rights and policy, although challenges included limited space and participants' initial lack of knowledge.

  • RDMWN (Rights & Development for Migrant Worker Network), Chonburi: Conducted outreach, training, and case assistance. Worked towards establishing learning centres for migrant children.
  • Hi Positive Women Group, PhangNga: Focuses on women's health, women's rights, and HIV awareness. Key activities include organizing two women exchanges in Ranong and Phang Nga, discussing income and finance management, and HIV medication dosages. Last six months, the group has promoted women empowerment and leadership and hold regular meetings, organized capacity building workshop for target group. Moreover, Hi group networks with other women's organizations to build relationships and share knowledge.

  • GBV-CG (Gender-Based Violence Coordination Group), Mae Sot: Aimed to reduce domestic and gender-based violence by networking, capacity building, and collaborating with local authorities.

The primary goal of this project is to empower migrant groups to address issues collectively, strengthen their organizations, and improve their quality of life through outreach, training, and networking. Our two-day workshop was filled with valuable exchanges and feedback, which will help shape the upcoming activities. We are proud of the progress made and look forward to continuing our work together. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported our initiatives. Together, we are making a difference!
