CHIANG MAI — 14 June 2026 — The Domestic Worker Group in Chiang Mai, together with the MAP Foundation, continues to push for labor equality, including domestic workers’ rights, by hosting the annual International Domestic Workers’ Day. The event brings together domestic workers in Chiang Mai and provincial authorities to address persistent gaps in state welfare.

At this event, the domestic workers discuss their challenges and long-standing needs—specifically those whose employers do not run a registered business—and call for their formal integration into Thailand's Social Security system under Section 33.

Additionally, the domestic workers take the opportunity to ask questions regarding their rights and discuss their challenges directly with representatives from the Chiang Mai Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office and the Chiang Mai Provincial Social Security Office.

While Ministerial Regulation No. 15 was a historic milestone for the movement, advocates argue that real-world enforcement and tracking of employer compliance remain low. The Domestic Worker Group read an official statement and submitted their latest formal demand letter directly to the representatives from both provincial offices.
